Hito Steyerl | Mechanical Kurds | MACRO

April 29 – August 30, 2026

MACRO presents Mechanical Kurds, a solo exhibition by Hito Steyerl curated by Alice Labor, exploring the relationship between artificial intelligence, geopolitical conflicts, and digital labor.

Hito Steyerl is one of the most influential contemporary artists working at the intersection of video, installation, and critical theory. Her work examines how images circulate in the digital age, the politics of representation, and the technological systems that shape our understanding of the world.

Mechanical Kurds continues Steyerl’s investigation into the ways artificial intelligence and automated systems are implicated in contemporary conflicts and labor practices. The exhibition addresses urgent questions about surveillance, warfare, and the human cost of technological progress.
