Marco Bernardi | Egonoclastia | Ex Elettrofonica
From 21 March 2026
Ex Elettrofonica presents Egonoclastia, a solo exhibition by Marco Bernardi, opening on Saturday 21 March 2026 at Vicolo Sant’Onofrio 10, Rome.
Egonoclastia — a word compounded from ego and iconoclasm — announces an exhibition that takes the dismantling of self-image as its central gesture. Marco Bernardi develops a practice that moves between painting, drawing, and installation, investigating the tensions between self-construction and self-dissolution, identity and its undoing.
The term egonoclast suggests one who destroys not icons but ego-images: the constructed selves we project into the world and mistake for who we are. Bernardi’s work approaches this theme with a mixture of urgency and dark humour, dismantling the armour of the ego to expose something more fragile and more authentic beneath.
Ex Elettrofonica has, since 2009, championed artists who engage with the exhibition space as a site of experimentation — where architecture and image production intersect and where the viewer’s relationship to art is actively questioned.
