Monitor presents Misurazione del Sole (Measuring the Sun), a solo exhibition by Maja Escher.
Maja Escher is an artist whose practice is grounded in careful observation and the transformation of natural phenomena into sculptural and visual language. In Misurazione del Sole, Escher turns to light itself — its passage, its measurement, and its role in structuring time and perception — as both subject and material.
The exhibition takes its title from the ancient and poetic endeavour of measuring solar movement: an act that is simultaneously scientific and contemplative, practical and metaphysical. Escher’s works invite visitors to slow down and attend to the rhythms of light as it changes, marking the passage of hours and seasons with quiet precision.
Monitor has been an important platform for international and emerging artists in Rome since its founding, with spaces in Rome, Lisbon, and Pereto, and a programme committed to rigorous, research-based practice.
