Miriam Cahn | Ciò che mi guarda | MACRO – Museo d’Arte Contemporanea di Roma

MACRO presents Miriam Cahn‘s first major museum retrospective in Italy, featuring over 100 works spanning from the late 1970s to the present day.

Curated by Cristiana Perrella, the exhibition occupies the museum’s 1,400-square-meter main gallery. Rather than following a chronological narrative, the show arranges works into thematic constellations that address the artist’s persistent formal and political concerns: representations of the female body, denunciations of war violence, and eroticism as a form of resistance.

The exhibition includes room installations such as Herumliegen (2022) and Familienraum (1996-2009), alongside charcoal drawings, watercolors, and canvas paintings. The architectural design is by Didier Fiúza Faustino.

Born in Basel in 1949, Miriam Cahn has developed a distinctive visual language that confronts contemporary urgencies through the prism of the body and its vulnerabilities.
