Amelia Rosselli | Un canto nel suo spazio | MACRO
April 29 – August 30, 2026
MACRO presents Un canto nel suo spazio (A Song in Its Space), a project dedicated to poet Amelia Rosselli, curated by Andrea Cortellessa. The exhibition explores the unique spatial and sonic dimensions of Rosselli’s poetry through an immersive audio installation.
Amelia Rosselli (1930-1996) was one of the most innovative and complex voices in 20th-century Italian poetry. Born in Paris to an Italian political family in exile, she spent her childhood between France, England, and the United States before settling in Rome. Her multilingual background and musical training profoundly shaped her experimental approach to language and form.
The exhibition foregrounds the vocal and embodied nature of Rosselli’s work, presenting her poetry not merely as text on a page but as a living sonic experience. Through carefully curated audio pieces and archival materials, visitors encounter the rhythmic complexity and spatial architecture that characterize her revolutionary poetic practice.
As part of the public programme, on May 21, 2026 at 7 pm, MACRO hosts la notte era una splendida canna di giunco, an evening featuring actress and director Sonia Bergamasco—a historic interpreter of Rosselli’s poetry—in conversation with curator Andrea Cortellessa, interweaving listening, critical reflection, and reading.
