Galleria Richter Fine Art continues its exhibition season with the solo show by Alessandro Gioiello (Savigliano, Cuneo, 1982). The exhibition, titled Pensieri Sparsi (Scattered Thoughts), features paintings exploring the recent developments in the research Gioiello has undertaken in recent months, in which he explored a selection of objects from his studio in Racconigi.

All the elements inhabiting those environments have been used as raw material for constructing the pictorial works, organizing their spaces, composition, and balances. The subjects portrayed are very simple presences—seashells, floral compositions arranged in vases or otherwise freely open and scattered throughout the environment.

What emerges is a balanced and strongly dynamic relationship, both among the elements of the composition and in the colors, where an almost crystalline coolness contrasts with warm modulations, creating a tonal equilibrium common to all works in the exhibition. A cathartic vision of things results—devoid of narration—capable of offering a sensory experience and an intimate knowledge of the world.

For Gioiello, painting is an act of intimate reflection, in which long moments of observation and waiting in his studio often surpass those of painterly action. The search for the right moment to paint reveals an extended relationship with time, an intense and contemplative participation that leads him to embrace the phenomenological aspect of things.

As the artist himself states: “For this exhibition, I imagined that all the objects in my studio, even those just a few centimeters from the easel, could lose their names, even if only for an instant. So without having to chase a subject anymore, each depicted object is an attempt to transcribe the perceived, of what is near or just past. They are visual notes traced quickly after long waits. I believe one can look at a canvas the same way one looks at a river, waiting for the smallest form of life to appear.”
